Sobre el Club

Every month we run a bilingual book club in Buenos Aires for women from all over the world. We pick a text by an Argentine woman writer, choose fragments around one theme, and meet to talk about it over coffee or vino. This is that same club, opened up as a private session for travelers.

We read contemporary Argentine women writers: Hebe Uhart, Diana Bellessi, Mariana Enriquez. The text comes in both English and Spanish, so you can read it in either. It's a way into Argentine culture and into the city itself, through what its writers have written about it.

You'll get the text and a short reading guide beforehand, with links to go deeper into the writer. It's all short enough to read on the flight down.

Nothing about this feels like a class. It's closer to meeting a friend for coffee or vino and talking about a book :)

FAQ

Is this a tour?

Kind of. It's a way of discovering Buenos Aires, but a literary one. We take a short walk and then sit down at a café or a bar to talk about the text.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No. The text comes in a good English translation and the conversation can happen entirely in English. If you speak Spanish or you're learning, we can move between both languages, or run the whole session in Spanish. Your call.

Do I have to read anything beforehand?

It's better if you do. It's short and it comes with a guide, so it's not much work. The session is a conversation, and it works best when you arrive having read it.

Which writers do you read?

Contemporary Argentine women writers, mostly. Hebe Uhart, Diana Bellessi, Mariana Enriquez, among others. You'll pick a theme when you book and we build the session around it.

How long is it and where does it happen?

Two hours, at a café or a bar in Buenos Aires depending on the time of day. We're flexible, and we'll agree on the neighbourhood once you book.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. It works well for solo travelers and for groups of friends.

Is it really private?

Yes. It's just you, or you and whoever you're travelling with.

Is coffee or wine included?

Yes. Coffee or wine, plus something to eat.

What if I can't make it?

Cancel up to 72 hours before and you get a full refund. After that we can't refund the session.
